1. About SolarBill

SolarBill is a solar and battery sizing tool operated by SolarBill (ABN available on request), an Australian sole trader business. By accessing or using SolarBill at solarbill.com.au you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree to these terms please do not use the service.

2. The Service

SolarBill provides an online solar and battery system sizing calculator that analyses electricity bill data to generate system recommendations. The service is available to:

• Homeowners — free access with 2 bill scans included
• Solar installers and businesses — paid subscription plans (Starter, Pro) and Pay As You Go credit packs

Accuracy Disclaimer

All recommendations, savings estimates, payback calculations and system sizing outputs generated by SolarBill are estimates only. They are based on the data you provide, Australian Bureau of Meteorology sun hour data, and industry standard calculation methods. Actual results will vary depending on factors including but not limited to roof orientation, shading, system installation quality, household usage patterns and electricity price movements.

SolarBill is not a licensed electrical contractor, solar installer or financial adviser. Nothing on this platform constitutes professional advice of any kind.

3. Accounts and Access

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You must not share your account with others or allow unauthorised access to your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Installer Accounts

Installer Starter and Pro subscriptions include a 7-day free trial. Your payment method will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before day 8. Subscriptions renew monthly unless cancelled.

Pay As You Go Credits

Credit packs are non-refundable once purchased. Credits expire 6 months from the date of purchase. Unused credits are forfeited upon expiry.

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or misuse the service.

4. Acceptable Use

By using SolarBill you agree not to:

• Scrape, copy or reproduce any part of the SolarBill platform without permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the service
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the security of the platform
• Resell or sublicense access to the service without written permission
• Use automated tools to access the service in a way that places excessive load on the platform

5. Intellectual Property

SolarBill, its name, logo, design, software and all content are the intellectual property of SolarBill and are protected under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). All rights reserved.

You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from any part of the SolarBill platform without prior written consent.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, SolarBill and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from:

• Reliance on calculator outputs or recommendations
• Decisions made based on information provided by the service
• Service interruptions, downtime or data loss
• Errors or inaccuracies in the system recommendations

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 30 days preceding the claim.

7. Refunds and Cancellations

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

If you cancel before day 8 of your free trial, you will not be charged.

Credit packs are non-refundable once purchased.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

1. Our Commitment to Privacy

SolarBill is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

2. What Data We Collect

Account Information

• Name, email address, phone number
• Company name (for installer accounts)
• Password (stored as a one-way encrypted hash — we cannot see your password)

Electricity Bill Data

• Electricity usage data extracted from uploaded bills (kWh usage, tariff rates, billing periods)
• The bill images or PDFs you upload for scanning
• Your state/location as detected from your bill

Usage Data

• Number of bill scans performed
• Date and time of scans
• Plan and subscription status

Payment Data

Payment information is processed directly by Stripe. SolarBill does not store your full card details — only a Stripe customer reference ID.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the SolarBill service and generate solar system recommendations
• To manage your account and subscription
• To send account-related emails (welcome, trial reminders, payment confirmations)
• To improve the accuracy and performance of the calculator
• To contact you about your trial or subscription when relevant

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Third Parties We Share Data With

To operate SolarBill we share limited data with the following trusted third parties:

• Stripe — payment processing. Your payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (welcome emails, notifications). Only your email address and name are shared.
• Anthropic — AI processing of electricity bill images to extract usage data. Bill images are processed and not retained by Anthropic beyond the API request.
• Replit — hosting and infrastructure. Your data is stored on Replit servers located in Australia.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Australian servers. Passwords are stored as one-way encrypted hashes and cannot be recovered or viewed by SolarBill staff. Sessions are encrypted and expire after 7 days of inactivity.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted to or from the service.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account we will delete your personal data within 30 days of your request, except where we are required to retain it by law (such as financial records).

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of non-essential communications

8. Cookies

SolarBill uses session cookies only — these are necessary for the service to function (keeping you logged in). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
